Lota Work..... But not a bad result!
I don't know if this was part of a bigger project, but there is a tone of modeling work in this for a short film. Second years will know all about how much work there is in building a model. I recon there are at least 50 characters in this thing and it only goes for a few mins.

The Chubbchubbs was only a short film, not designed to be a feature as far as I know. It was done by Sony Imageworks and showed at the front of Men In Black II in the theater (and on DVD). It actually won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2003.
My guess is that this was a test for early teams and software and pipelines, etc, in the build-up to doing a feature. Which they have now done. :)

ahh... men in black 2... I was wondering where I saw it. Its better than the whole of men in black 2
